Two abstracts are required at the time of submission for consideration for acceptance:
A one page abstract of no more than 800 words for review by the VOS program committee
A second mini-abstract is needed for publication in VCOT and the Conference Proceedings. This abstract should be no more than 250 words.
The preferred format for the body of the abstract is Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion/Conclusion. If this is not appropriate (e.g., case report or technique) flowing text or other modifications are acceptable.
INTRODUCTION: Background on general topic or previous work; include statement of purpose of the study (i.e., what was the specific problem studied and what is its significance).
MATERIALS & METHODS: Describe in brief the methodology of research, or technique, used in this study.
RESULTS: Data should be presented in sufficient detail to support the conclusions. It is not acceptable to generalize or state that "results will be discussed" (i.e., state what was found to allow the reader to perform an independent evaluation).
DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION: Include an interpretation of the results. Was the problem solved? Were additional problems identified? How can the information derived from this study, or technique, best be applied to further research or clinical situation? Do not simply restate the results.
